Organization of Fire and Disaster Management Agency and tasks assigned to it
We are the Fire and Disaster Management Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.
Fire and Disaster Management Agency will contribute to the construction of a society where each person has a strong sense of fire defense and disaster prevention and where it will not staggered by a disaster. We will continue to strive to minimize loss of life and injury during various disasters including fires, earthquakes, storms and floods, always giving the first priority to people's lives.

- Responsible for formulating plans concerning fire defense in general, conducting overall coordination within the whole Fire and Disaster Management Agency, implementing public relations activities, and citing fire service personnel, members of Volunteer Fire Corps and those who have contributed to safety.

- Responsible for formulating systems for fire defense organizations and systems for fire service personnel and members of Volunteer Fire Corps, and establishing/improving local fire defense facilities and equipment.

- Responsible for formulating standards for installing alarms and sprinklers and those for storing hazardous materials such as gasoline, and conducting investigations of the causes of serious fires that have occurred.

- Responsible for formulating plans for measures to prevent earthquakes and other natural disasters, coping with natural disasters, providing support for local disaster prevention plans and formulating measures to cope with extraordinary disasters.

- Responsible for formulating plans for ambulance and rescue services involving Emergency Life-Saving Technician and rescue teams, promoting first-aid activities, and participating in international collaborations including international emergency relieves and delegation of personnel.
- Fire and Disaster Management College
- As a representative organization that provides education and training of fire service personnel and members of Volunteer Fire Corps throughout the nation, responsible for studying education and training programs and methods for education.
- National Research Institute of Fire and Disaster (Incorporated Administrative Agency)
- Responsible for comprehensively conducting research and development concerning science and technology in fire services, such as inspections and tests for identifying causes of fires and development of state-of-the-art fire-service materials and equipment.
